I vividly remember a cold winter day when I worked in a finance position, my left hip throbbing with pain. The street curb was piled high with snow, and I hesitated, my cane in hand, fearing a fall that could worsen the bone-on-bone condition of my left hip due to osteoarthritis. 

A kind stranger noticed my distress and offered assistance, a simple act of kindness that made me realize the challenges of relying on others for basic mobility. If you’re experiencing excruciating hip pain, you’re not alone. I’ve compiled a list of treatments for hip arthritis without surgery, hoping to offer relief without resorting to surgery like I did.

  • poor posture

What is the end stage of hip arthritis?

By redistributing weight and reducing the load on the affected hip joint, walking aids help minimize pain and improve mobility (I thanked the Universe every day for the person who invented the cane when I used one).

My heating pad was my best friend when my hip was at its worst. It can provide soothing relief from arthritic pain and stiffness.
