6 Effortless Tarot Tips to Help You Trust Your Intuition

I’ve always been a bit of a skeptic with things like Tarot cards.

I would chalk it up to coincidence or just being lucky. But, over time, I’ve trusted and strengthened my intuition more and more, especially for making decisions that are important to me.

I’ve been deeply studying the Tarot and working with it for almost one year.

I’m constantly blown away by my readings.

Sometimes, I’m in tears. Other times, I’m shaking my head in laughter because the cards confirmed something I was feeling.

I believe the Tarot can be an invaluable tool for many things, especially for building your intuition muscles.

In this post, I’ll share 6 effortless tips you can use to trust your intuition using Tarot cards.

But before I get into it, I’ll briefly discuss:

-what it means to trust your intuition

-is it your gut or are you overthinking things?

-how do you really know your intuition is steering you in the right direction?

What does it mean to trust your intuition?

Trusting your intuition means listening to your inner voice and following its guidance, even when it goes against what your mind is telling you.

It’s about learning to trust yourself and your instincts.

Your intuition is that little voice inside your head that gives you a “gut feeling” about something. It’s that feeling you get when you just know something, even though you can’t explain why.

For example, I was considering taking a new job when I worked in the corporate world.

My mind was telling me it was a great opportunity and that I should take it.

But my intuition was giving me a nagging feeling that something wasn’t quite right. It was actually screaming at me to run out of the interview ASAP!

In this situation, trusting my intuition would have meant listening to that inner voice and following its guidance, even if it went against what my mind was telling me.

My mind said, “it’s a lot mo’ money.”

So I ignored my intuition and took the job.

As a result, I found myself in a stressful and toxic work environment and lost 10 pounds.

I resigned from the position within a year.

Is it your gut or are you overthinking?

How many times have you had a decision to make, and you just couldn’t choose?

You weigh the pros and cons over and over in your head, but you just can’t seem to reach a conclusion.

Maybe you’re overthinking it. Or maybe your gut is trying to tell you something.

Our gut instinct is often based on our intuition or instinct – that “gut feeling” we get about something.

This “gut feeling” can be helpful when making quick decisions, but it’s not always accurate.

Overthinking can lead us to second-guess ourselves, even when we know what the right decision is.

So how do you know when to trust your gut and when to trust your brain?

Unfortunately, there’s no straightforward answer.

But next time you’re stuck in indecision, try taking a step back and asking yourself which one feels more right – your head or your heart?

How do I know my intuition is right?

We’ve all had that feeling before.

You know, the one where you just “know” something is true, even though you don’t have any evidence to back it up.

That’s your intuition speaking. But how can you be sure that your intuition is right?

Well, there are a few things you can look for.

First, does the decision feel right in your gut? If it does, that’s a good sign.

Second, are you basing your decision on logic and facts, or on emotion? If it’s the latter, then think twice.

Finally, trust your gut! If something feels off, it probably is.

I wish I had listened to my “gut feeling” about that job because it affected my emotional and mental wellbeing.

So listen to your intuition. You’ll usually make the right call.

6 Simple Tarot Tips to Help You Trust Your Intuition

If you’re looking to trust your intuition more, then this is where tarot cards come in.

Below are my personal tips on how you can also start using Tarot to develop your intuition.

1. Tarot is a great way to connect with your intuition

Reading tarot cards can be very helpful in connecting to your higher self.

When you take the time to shuffle and lay out the cards, you’re opening yourself up to receive messages from your subconscious mind.

The images on the cards can provide you with powerful symbols that can help you understand your current situation and make decisions about your future.

The best way to use Tarot for intuitive guidance is to ask open-ended questions.

Using open-ended questions will allow the cards to give you the most accurate and helpful information.

Some examples of open-ended questions you could ask include:

  • What do I need to know right now?
  • What is my biggest challenge at the moment?
  • What is holding me back from achieving my goals?
  • What do I need to work on in order to move forward?
  • What should I be aware of?

2. Get to know the meanings of the cards

The first step is to familiarize yourself with the meanings of the individual cards.

There are 78 Tarot cards divided into two groups: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.

The Major Arcana Keys represent the major life lessons we all must go through, such as The Fool, The Lovers, and The Tower.

The Minor Arcana pips (cards) comprise four suits, Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. These cards represent the more day-to-day challenges we face.

Each tarot card has its own unique meaning, and when combined with the other cards in a reading, they can give you valuable insights into your current situation.

Some people find memorizing the meanings of all 78 Tarot cards to be daunting.

It’s good to have some basic idea of the meanings of the cards. But it’s unnecessary to get into a thorough analysis.

Your subconscious mind is always trying to communicate with you through the cards because it strongly reacts to symbols versus words.

3. Begin practicing simple readings

Once you’ve got a good understanding of the meanings of the Tarot cards, you can start practicing simple readings for yourself.

  • Start by shuffling the cards and asking a question out loud
  • Lay out the cards in a spread (there are many spreads to choose from)
  • Take some time to meditate on the card meanings and how they relate to your question
  • Trust your intuition to interpret the reading

One of my favorite go-to tarot spreads is the Being/Doing spread.

I love this spread!

It’s simple, and to the point, because it gives me a quick snapshot of how I’m being and what I may be doing in the current moment about a situation.

Don’t be afraid to experiment – there are no wrong answers for giving yourself a Tarot reading.

Have fun with it and enjoy unlocking your inner wisdom!

4. Start using more advanced techniques

Now that you’ve learned some meanings of the tarot cards and have become comfortable doing readings, you can experiment with more advanced techniques.

One popular technique is reading the cards in reverse.

For example, let’s say you pull the 5 of cups in the upright or dignified position. This card’s keyword meanings are sorrow or loss.

When this card is in reverse, it can signify different meanings.

It can suggest you’re still grieving something or someone and not ready to let go just yet. Your heart still needs time.

But it can also suggest that you’ve accepted what has happened, processed it, and are now ready to move on.

In order to gain more context of this card reversal, you would need to understand how the other cards in the spread factor in.

With practice, you’ll be able to quickly and easily incorporate card reversals into your readings.

5. Keep a Tarot journal

I write each of my readings because it’s impossible to remember all of my card pulls and their positions.

Recording your readings is a wonderful way to keep track of your progress.

You’ll be able to look back on your readings and see how they’ve played out in different areas of your life, such as your career or relationships.

Use a journal to record your thoughts and insights. It’ll help you create a deep bond between you and your Tarot cards.

And just for fun, you’ll be able to refer to your previous readings to see how accurate they were!

6. Practice regularly

Intuition is that little voice inside our head that helps us decide – whether it’s choosing the right path in life, or simply knowing which way to turn at a fork in the road.

It’s that feeling we get when we just know something, even though we can’t explain how or why.

One of the best ways to learn to trust your intuition is by practicing regularly with Tarot cards.

Tarot can help you develop your intuitive skills by providing a framework for understanding the messages you receive.

With regular practice, you’ll find it easier and easier to tune into your intuition.

Easy 5 minute daily Tarot card reading routine:

1. Choose a question to focus on

Before you begin, take a deep breath and connect to your cards. Focus on the question you want to be answered so you can stay centered.

2. Shuffle the cards

Take a few minutes to shuffle the cards.

There is no right or wrong way of doing this, so allow your intuition to guide you. Trust it to lead you to the card you need.

3. Pull the cards

Once you’ve shuffled the cards, it’s time to pull them. The number of cards you pull will depend on the spread you’re using.

4. Interpret the cards

After you’ve pulled the cards, look at them for a few minutes.

What story are they telling you?

When looking at the cards in the spread:

  • What’s the first thing that stands out to you?
  • How do you feel when you look at the faces or objects in the cards?
  • Do any of the colors make you feel happy or nervous?

If you’re not clear about the meaning, that’s ok. It may make more sense at a later time.

5. Write in your journal

Once you’ve interpreted the cards, it’s time to record what came up.

Journalling will help you remember what the cards meant and is a beautiful way for your feminine side to connect with you.

Write:

  • the cards’ position, meanings, and name of the spread
  • the day and time
  • the deck(s) used
  • your first intuitive hits
